Know the target

Standard guitar tuning, string by string

E Standard guitar tuning runs from the lowest, thickest string to the highest, thinnest string: E2, A2, D3, G3, B3 and E4. The live cents meter shows whether each string is flat or sharp, with the green acceptance zone fixed at ±5 cents.

Free mode follows the string you are sounding. Selecting a string or its tuning peg switches to Auto mode, locks that target and advances after the pitch stays centered for one second.

How to tune accurately

  1. 1Open the tuner and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
  2. 2Pluck one open string clearly and let it ring without touching the fretboard.
  3. 3Turn the matching tuning peg: left of center is flat, right of center is sharp.
  4. 4Hold the reading in the green ±5-cent zone for one second, then continue to the next string.

Changing the tuner calibration recalculates every target from A4 = 415–450 Hz. The values above use the common 440 Hz reference.

Yes. An unplugged electric guitar can work close to the device microphone; a quiet room and a clean, sustained pluck improve detection.

Which guitar string should I tune first?

A practical order is low E to high E: E2, A2, D3, G3, B3 and E4. Recheck the first strings after completing the set because neck tension can settle slightly.

Does this work as a guitar tuner for PC?

Yes. tuner.love runs in a current desktop browser on Windows, macOS or Linux. Supported Chromium browsers can also offer an Install app action for a focused web-app window.

Does tuner.love upload my microphone audio?

No. Pitch analysis runs locally in your browser. Microphone audio is not uploaded to a backend and is never replayed through your speakers.
