Drop D at both ends of the guitar

Double Drop D keeps the familiar middle four Standard strings but adds a D2 bass and D4 top string. It retains the low-D weight of Drop D while making the high open D available for ringing voicings and fingerstyle parts.

Only two strings change, but they sit at opposite ends of the neck. Lock each D target in Auto mode before changing its peg so that a nearby ringing D does not confuse the selected string.

Four clear steps

How to tune accurately

  1. 1Lower the sixth string from E2 to D2 and confirm it in the green zone.
  2. 2Verify the middle A2, D3, G3 and B3 strings remain at Standard pitch.
  3. 3Lower the first string from E4 to D4 using its own target or tuning peg.
  4. 4Play open strings together, then recheck both D strings after the guitar settles.
Reference: A4 = 440 Hz
