Standard GCEA ukulele tuner
Tune the four ukulele strings in their physical top-to-bottom order: G4, C4, E4 and A4, with the high G preserved instead of sorted by pitch height.
Why standard ukulele tuning is re-entrant
In common high-G tuning, the top G4 string is higher than the following C4 string. That re-entrant order gives the ukulele its compact, bright chord voicing and must not be mistaken for a lower G3.

How to tune accurately
- 1Hold the ukulele close enough for the microphone to hear a clean open string.
- 2Tune the top string to G4, then continue to C4, E4 and A4.
- 3Mute the other strings and make small peg movements as the marker approaches center.
- 4Keep each reading in the green zone for one second before moving on.

Changing the tuner calibration recalculates every target from A4 = 415–450 Hz. The values above use the common 440 Hz reference.
Frequently asked questions
Is the first ukulele string G3 or G4?
This tuner represents standard re-entrant high-G tuning, so the top string is G4. Low-G ukulele is a different setup.
What order are ukulele strings shown?
They are shown top to bottom on the instrument: G4, C4, E4 and A4.
