Tuning the low B on a five-string bass
The added B0 string extends below standard four-string bass and needs especially clean isolation. tuner.love keeps B0 first in the five-string selector and maps it to the instrument's measured physical string and peg.
A strong harmonic can momentarily dominate a very low fundamental, so use one deliberate pluck and let the detector follow the sustain. Selecting B0 locks Auto mode to that exact target.
How to tune accurately
- 1Mute E, A, D and G, then pluck the low B near the center of its speaking length.
- 2Let B0 sustain and make small key adjustments while the cents display stabilizes.
- 3Continue low to high through E1, A1, D2 and G2.
- 4Recheck B0 after the neck has settled under the completed tuning.
