Academic balalaika tuning
Academic tuning uses two separate E4 strings followed by A4. Although the two E strings share one pitch, each has its own post and tension and must be checked independently.
The alternate DF♯A and CEG presets form open major chords suited to traditional folk playing and different regional setups.
How to tune accurately
- 1Select the first E4 string and tune it in Auto mode.
- 2Mute it and tune the second physical E4 string separately.
- 3Finish with A4, then sound the three strings together.
- 4Recheck both unison E strings for audible beating.
